If you're planning a vacation and want Boston to visit a museum or two while you're here, you will have a difficult choice. With over 60 museums in or near the city, and many more in surrounding areas, how can you choose?

One way to begin to decide the election, what kind of museum that you want to visit Boston. Here is a brief overview of the five main types of museums that can be found, and a couple of options for eachCategory:

3. Historical Museum - As you might expect in a city with a history of the past so strong and full of history museums of various kinds with Boston. Children and fans of military history like the Freedom TrailSite of the USS Constitution and near Naval History Museum in Charlestown, where both are free and guided tours through the ship. For a very different kind of experience, Nichols House Museum tour of Beacon Hill. 5. Children's museums - Last but not least, these are some of the best known and most visited museums in the city. Within Boston, Boston Children's Museum is the distance the most popular. To the west of the city, Acton,Children's Discovery Museum is full of interactive exhibits.
